Voter Registration

In order to vote in the Village of Pleasant Prairie you must be a registered voter. The State of Wisconsin has set the following minimum requirements to register:

  1. You must be 18 years of age.
  2. You must be a U. S. citizen.
  3. You must reside in the Village of Pleasant Prairie for a minimum of 10 days.

VOTER REGISTRATION APPLICATION - If you hold a current driver's licence from the State of Wisconsin, you must have your driver's licence number to register. ONLY if you do not have a Wisconsin driver's licence, you may use a Wisconsin Department of Transportation Identification Number or the last four digits of your social security number to complete the application.

Three options to register are available:

  1. By Mail: Download the Application for Voter Registration (EB131), complete the form, and deliver it to your municipal clerk's office or postmarked by 5:00 p.m. on the 3rd Wednesday (20 days) before the election. Voter Registration Applications received by mail must include proof of residence. The document provided must contain a complete name, including both the first and last name; and a current and complete residential address, including a numbered street.

  2. PROOF OF RESIDENCE- Identifying Documents are Limited to:
    • A current and valid Wisconsin driver's licence
    • A current and valid Wisconsin identification card
    • Any other offical identification card or licence issued by a Wisconsin governmental body
    • An identification card issued by an employer in the normal course of business and bearing a photo of the card holder (not including a business card)
    • A real estate tax bill or receipt for the current year of the year preceding the date of the election
    • A cable television, gas, electric, telephone or other utility service statement for a period commencing not earlier than 90 days before Election Day
    • A current bank statement or current pay check
    • A government check or document
    • A residential lease which is effective for a period that includes Election Day
    • A university, college or technical institute identification card bearing a photo of the cardholder. (May be used even if the card does not contain the cardholder's address, if the educational institute provides a certified student list for use at the polling place)

  3. In Person: Register in the Village Hall, 9915 39th Avenue between 8 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. prior to Election Day. Note: after the 3rd Wednesday (20 days) prior to an Election the elector shall present acceptable proof of residence as outlined above. A late registrant will be issued a Certificate of Registration to present to the Election Inspectors on Election Day verifying voter registration.
  4. At the Polling Place on Election Day: If you wish to register to vote at your polling place, you must present the following information:

    • If you hold a driver's licence from the State of Wisconsin, you must have your driver's licence number to register. ONLY if you do not have a Wisconsin driver's licence, you may use a Wisconsin Department of Transportation Identification Number or the last four digits of your social security number to complete the application.

    • In addition, you must bring proof of residence that you have lived at your present location for 10 days preceding the election. (See List Above)

    If you cannot supply acceptable proof of residence, your registration form can be substantiated and signed by one other elector who resides in the same polling location in the Village, corroborating your residency information. The corroborator must then provide acceptable proof of residence and sign the application.
