Workout-to-Lose… It Works!

Today is the first day to sign up to participate in an 8-week workout challenge at LakeView RecPlex in Pleasant Prairie. The program, Workout-to-Lose, is an 8-week fitness challenge. RecPlex first offered the challenge in 2005. Since that time, 2,738 total pounds have been lost as part of the competition. The 48 participants in the most recent challenge lost a combined total of 392 pounds over the 8-weeks.
To kick-off the challenge, teams of four receive a fitness assessment. They then work towards their goal of losing weight. Along the way, team members are given the tools to embrace a healthier lifestyle. Teams participate in weekly: exercise programs, weight loss tracking, private weigh-ins, and health and wellness seminars. Recently, a popular new feature, personal trainer-led exercise sessions, was introduced. At the end of the challenge, teams receive another fitness assessment to measure their success. The total weight loss is celebrated at a closing ceremony, where winning teams and individuals receive awards for their progress.
“To see so many people having fun while getting healthy is truly inspirational!” commented Karin Brown, Fitness and Wellness Director at RecPlex. “Participants motivate each other and have really embraced a healthy, balanced and maintainable approach to good health!” RecPlex runs two Workout-to-Lose challenges per year.
