Village Board to Review Report to DNR
Back to News
During its Monday evening meeting on May 5, 2008, the Pleasant Prairie Village Board will receive and discuss an Annual Report submitted to the Department of Natural Resources for a Storm Water Discharge Permit. The report is designed to help municipalities fulfill reporting requirements associated with storm water management.
In 2006, the Village of Pleasant Prairie adopted a comprehensive Stormwater Management Plan. The purpose of the plan is to guide the Village in efforts to comply with state mandates to improve the quality of storm water that is returned to our natural water resources. The discussion this evening will center on the answers, provided by Village staff, to a series of questions related to: public education and outreach; public involvement and participation; detecting and eliminating illicit discharges; controlling construction site pollution; preventing pollution; and more.
During 2008, in order to fulfill requirements necessary to hold the Storm Water Discharge Permit, the Village will implement a pollution prevention program and a public education and outreach program. The Village of Pleasant Prairie will contract with the Root-Pike Watershed Initiative Network to help educate and involve the community with the Keep Our Waters Clean program.
