Historical Photographs of Pleasant Prairie
Back to News
Do you have historical photos of life in Pleasant Prairie, or do you know someone who may? We are interested in hearing from those of you who are willing to share your historical photos with the Village of Pleasant Prairie. Your photos and your memories will contribute to a historical review of life in the Village. They may also be used in the 2009 Village calendar and resource directory.
Pleasant Prairie has a rich and varied history. Its establishment as a municipal entity dates back to 1842, but different sites in the Village offer evidence of settlements dating back much farther. Photos of interest include older Pleasant Prairie homesteads, farms, businesses, schoolhouses, places of worship and historical events and locations.
Along with historic photographs, we are also seeking a short summary of the context in which the photos were taken. Periods of interest date from 1980 back through the mid 1800ís when photography was first becoming available. Pre-photographic renderings are also of great interest.
