Citizens Fund Cameras
Back to News
The Pleasant Prairie Police Department recently completed field testing of body cameras, a project the department began in July of 2016. Throughout the field testing process, Village officers wore and utilized two body camera models. The department has selected the Safariland VIEVU body camera as the preferred model.
With the financial assistance of a newly formed citizens group, the Pleasant Prairie Police Officer Appreciation Association Inc., the department will purchase 31 body camera units, which is enough to supply each officer with a camera system.
As a part of the testing process, the department drafted a policy for the use of the new cameras. That policy will be available for public review once body cameras are placed in service by the department.
Officers with the Pleasant Prairie Police Department would like to sincerely thank those who have made the purchase of the body cameras possible.
