Work Progressing
During May and July of 2013, public meetings were held regarding the upcoming reconstruction of 39th Avenue between 97th and 104th Streets. The Village, Kenosha County, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, and the Federal Highway Administration are cooperating on the project. Reconstruction work on 39th Avenue is expected to take place during 2015.

Initial plans for the project have been completed. Within the project area, 39th Avenue will be reconstructed with: two 12-foot travel lanes; two 5-foot bicycle lanes; two 8-foot parking lanes (south of Springbrook road only); 30-inch curb and gutter; two 10-foot sidewalks with variable terraces on both sides of the roadway; and a 25-foot wide raised, grass median. Street lighting, pavement markings, and street trees will also be installed.

This stretch on 39th Avenue will play an integral role in the Village Green Center, a future residential and commercial development immediately to the west of the roadway. Due to cost, safety and impact to surrounding businesses, a roundabout is planned for the intersection at 39th Avenue and Springbrook Road.

The Village is currently working with property owners within the proposed project area, and expects to send the project out for bid in early 2015. Construction is expected to begin during the summer of 2015.
