Free Skating Event
RecPlex Ice Arena and Cutting Edge Figure Skating Club Host Free Event for National Skating Month

All are invited to the RecPlex Ice Arena on Saturday, February 15 for a free skating event in honor of U.S. Figure Skating’s National Skating Month. During the event, families can enjoy: free admission to an open skate from 11:45 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. (skate rental is available for a $3 fee, if needed); free skating lessons provided by the Cutting Edge Junior Council and Miss Pleasant Prairie Court; and a free figure skating exhibition beginning at 1:30 p.m. (featuring Cutting Edge figure skaters, the IceStars synchronized skating teams, and KUSD’s Ice Lightening team).

National Skating Month was initiated as a way to introduce families to the US Figure Skating Basic Skills Programs. For several years, RecPlex has hosted free skating events during National Skating Month as a way for parents to learn if their children have an interest in the sport of figure skating prior to registering for programs.

Brian Luburich, Operations Director at the RecPlex Ice Arena explained, “Free skating events are a great way for kids to discover skating in a fun and encouraging environment. Whether aiming for Olympic fame or skating for fun, it’s a great way to get started!” Concessions will be available for purchase throughout the event. For more information about this National Skating Month event, the public can contact RecPlex at 262.925.6755 or email bluburich@plprairiewi.com.
