Ingram Park Update
Back to News
In late December of 2008, John and Dorothy Ingram donated 30.73 acres of land along the north side of 93rd Street for the creation of a new Village park. Planning for the park began in 2009, and a park plan was approved in 2010. Following plan approval, a roadway into the park was constructed, and grading took place on the southern half of the property. Work to complete the park continues as staff time and funding become available.
The unusually dry conditions this spring and summer have allowed staff, who would otherwise be mowing and maintaining grassy areas in the Village, the time to work on excavation of a 3-acre fishing pond. In order to save the cost of hauling the excavated soils away, the plan for Ingram Park has been modified to include the construction of a sledding hill with the excavated soil. The sledding hill is being constructed in what would have been an open lawn space.
The excavation of the pond and the construction of the sledding hill is expected to be complete by the end of the summer construction season. The Village will allow the pond to fill naturally with stormwater and groundwater over the next few years. Watch for more information regarding the new sledding hill in future editions of the Village Newsletter as the winter months approach.
