10/25/2007 | U.S. News & World Report Lists Pleasant Prairie in List of Best Places to Retire

In an article posted on September 20, 2007, U.S. News & World Report included Pleasant Prairie on a listing of the Best Places to Retire. The listing of “best places” was based on information including: cost of living, climate, crime rate, access to health care, and access to educational, cultural and recreational opportunities. Pleasant Prairie was noted in a list of 16 Wisconsin locations.

The U.S. News & World Report article made mention of both big-city and heartland locations, roughly 1,000 in all. The number of “best places” listed varied from state-to-state, with some having as many as 169 areas listed (California) and some having as few as one (Alaska and Vermont). Of the 16 Wisconsin locations highlighted in the listing, 12 are cities and four are villages. There are a total of 592 cities and villages in the State. Village Administrator Mike Pollocoff shared that it is an honor for Pleasant Prairie to be included in the U.S. News & World Report listing. He added that it speaks volumes about the people who live, work and play here in Pleasant Prairie, and that it’s a nice acknowledgment for our residents, board and staff.
