General Fund Debt Service
- In 2001 the Village Board determined that no longer issue general fund debt that would be paid for by the property taxes our residents receive.
- In 2009 the Village will realize a savings of $508,000, growing each year until 2013 to nearly $2 million without increasing taxes.
- In 2017 when there will be no more General Fund debt and the Village will have $2,5000,000 a year available for capital projects without increasing taxes.
- The money saved by the early retirement of the general fund debt will be used to purchase general fund capital such as police cars, ambulances, plow trucks and roadwork.
- This will allow the Village to fund these capital items without increasing general fund debt, increasing taxes or referendums.
