Public Safety Communications

img_about.jpg

The Village of Pleasant Prairie has its own 24 hour communications center which receives and dispatches calls for police, fire & rescue, and after-hours emergencies for all other Village departments. Located at the Prange Municipal Center, the communications center employs seven dispatchers and is managed by the Police Department’s Law Enforcement Support Specialist. In 2010 the communications center handled over 20,000 incidents for police and over 1,800 incidents for fire & rescue.

Technology plays a big part of maintaining communication between citizens and public safety agencies and the Village has made major advances in recent years. In 2008 the center was remodeled and equipped with a state-of-the-art touch screen radio system, live mapping of police unit locations, and live camera feeds.
