Pleasant Prairie Police Department2007 New Releases Archive07/26/2007 | Foul Play Not Suspected in Death Police, Fire and Rescue personnel were summoned to the home at 7:44 P.M. Wednesday after the owner of the property arrived there and found David Matrisch, 39, laying on the floor in the basement. He was transported to St. Catherine’s Hospital by Pleasant Prairie Rescue where he was later pronounced dead. According to the property owner, Matrisch was hired to clean and paint the basement walls in the vacant home which they had recently purchased. Pleasant Prairie Police Chief Brian Wagner said it appears that Matrisch had been using a gasoline powered power washer in the basement with no ventilation and may have been overcome by carbon monoxide produced by the equipment. Pleasant Prairie Fire Department personnel reported a very high concentration of the deadly gas in the basement upon arrival. An autopsy was expected to be performed on Thursday and Detectives continue to investigate.
