06/28/2007 | Four to be Charged in Entry to School
(Pleasant Prairie, WI) Four area youths are to be charged in connection with an unlawful entry and damage to Pleasant Prairie Elementary School, 10717 47th Avenue in Pleasant Prairie, Wednesday evening.

Pleasant Prairie Police Officers responding to an activated burglar alarm at the school at 9:19 P.M. arrived and observed one of the boys attempting to flee the area on foot. Officers took him into custody and then determined that he along with three others had entered the school through an unsecured roof vent. Once inside, the four smashed a rest room toilet with a pick axe. Two others were later found walking in the area and the fourth was found at home.

Three of the boys are age 14 and are Pleasant Prairie residents. The fourth is 12 years of age and lives in Bristol. They were released to their parents and charges will be referred to juvenile authorities. There was no estimate of damage available on Thursday.

Pleasant Prairie Police Chief Brian Wagner credits a fast response for the quick and successful resolution of this incident. “Our officers were there in under four minutes”, Wagner said. “It’s really important to be able to respond quickly and solve the problem then and there as opposed to having to use a bunch of investigative resources to resolve it later, he said. “Our guys did a good job”.
