09/15/2006 | Police Offer Free Child DNA Identification Kits
(Pleasant Prairie, WI) The Pleasant Prairie Police Department is introducing an exciting and important new child identification program. The Department has created a very simple DNA collection Kit that will enable parents through an oral swab, to easily and painlessly collect their child’s DNA and to then preserve and keep those samples.

As you are probably aware, DNA fingerprinting is a much more accurate and effective means of identification than the conventional recording of a child’s fingerprints with ink. For this reason, all parents are encouraged to obtain and use our DNA Collection Kit.

The kit includes everything needed to collect the sample, along with easy to follow instructions. Residents of Pleasant Prairie will also soon be able to see video instructions on using the kits on Time Warner Cable's Pleasant Prairie Channel 25 at various intervals throughout the day.

The kits are available free of charge at the Pleasant Prairie Police Department. We ask that parents stop by the Police Department and request them. We cannot mail or deliver kits to your home and our officers on patrol will not carry kits with them.

To obtain a free DNA Collection kit, please stop by the Police Department at the Roger Prange Municipal Center which is located at 8600 Green Bay Road in Pleasant Prairie. The Roger Prange Center is open 24 hours for your convenience.
