09/12/2006 | Man Dead In Afternoon Crash
(Pleasant Prairie, WI) On Tuesday September 12, 2006 at 12:14pm, Pleasant Prairie police and rescue personnel were called to the scene of a serious injury accident in the 9900 block of 75th Street in Pleasant Prairie according to police spokesman Officer Pete Jung.

Preliminary reports indicate that a car southbound on 99th Ave from the stop sign at 75th Street pulled into the path of a westbound delivery van driven by SHAWN E. LYNCH (37) of Sheboygan. The van struck the car broadside, pushing it into the median where both vehicles came to rest according to Jung.

The driver of the car JAMES S. SORENSEN (90) of Pleasant Prairie was transported to Aurora Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the van along with his passengers NICHOLAS ZAMORA (34) of Milwaukee and VICTORIA L. KENNY (25) of Milwaukee were all transported to St. Catherine’s hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The van is owned by Unifirst Corporation of Menominee Falls.

The accident remains under investigation, and no citations have been issued. It does not appear that alcohol played a role in the accident. SORENSEN was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
