09/01/2006 | Pleasant Prairie Police Step Up Traffic Enforcement
The national campaign “Drunk Driving, Over The Limit, Under Arrest” comes to Pleasant Prairie this weekend. This campaign which has been highly promoted in radio and television ads, is intended to raise awareness of the dangers of impaired driving, and to warn motorists that if you get caught, you will be arrested.

Throughout Labor day weekend, Pleasant Prairie Police will have additional officers targeting specific locations throughout the village to aggressively seek out drivers who may be impaired by alcohol or drugs. In addition to these violations, officers will be targeting speeders and strictly enforcing safety belt violations.

The department received a grant from the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration to fund the overtime patrols according to Pleasant Prairie Police Chief Brian Wagner. Known as “Saturation Patrols”, they are made up of officers who are normally off duty, but volunteer to work overtime. The grant allows us to fund the program, with no cost to the village and no cut in the amount of officers on regular patrol according to Wagner.

The campaign will take place throughout Labor Day Weekend on highways that have had a high number of alcohol and speed-related traffic accidents.
