06/09/2006 | Woman Dead In Single Vehicle Accident
Pleasant Prairie Police Officers responded to a report of a single vehicle accident in the 1700 Block of State Highway 165 early Friday afternoon. Police received the call at 12:02 P.M

Upon arrival officers found the vehicle in the north ditch line where it had struck a culvert.

The operator and lone occupant of the vehicle, a 63 year old Zion, Illinois woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses said that the car had been eastbound on Highway 165 prior to the accident and said that the vehicle, which appeared to be traveling at the posted speed limit, gradually veered across the center line and left the highway at the north shoulder and then entered the north ditch. The vehicle continued east in the ditch for more than 200 feet before striking a culvert and coming to rest.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation. The victim was wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of family members. Pleasant Prairie Fire and Rescue Personnel assisted at the scene. State Highway 165 was closed for approximately two hours.
