03/16/2005 | Man Dead in Afternoon Collision with Building
(PLEASANT PRAIRIE, WI) Pleasant Prairie Police were called to the scene of a vehicle crash that involved a building located at 10450 72nd Avenue Wednesday afternoon.

Upon arrival officers found that a Pontiac passenger car which had been eastbound on STH 165, apparently lost control, left the roadway at the south shoulder and struck a building which houses the Pleasant Prairie Renaissance School, causing significant damage to the northwest corner of the building. No one inside the building was injured and the area of the building that was struck was unoccupied at the time of the crash. Police were notified at 2:35 P.M.

The vehicle was driven by a 39 year old Kenosha man who was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of relatives. There were no other occupants in the vehicle. The victim was not wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.

The Pleasant Prairie Renaissance School is a child care center and school staff moved the children outside to the south side of the building as a precaution and parents were notified to pick up their children.

Pleasant Prairie Police Department Accident Investigators have begun a technical investigation into the cause of the crash. It is expected that an autopsy will occur Thursday. Presently, it is unknown why the victim lost control of his vehicle.
