12/14/2005 | Apprehension Made in Threatening Call to School
(Pleasant Prairie, WI) A 14 year old girl was apprehended late Tuesday afternoon by Pleasant Prairie Police in connection with a threatening phone call that was left on the answering system at Pleasant Prairie Elementary School Sunday night.

Detectives worked all of Monday and Tuesday and had obtained subpoenas for telephone records from several different phone companies according to Pleasant Prairie Police Chief Brian Wagner. It was these records that led police to the suspect, a 14 year old Kenosha girl who admitted making several "prank phone calls" as a joke Sunday evening, including the phone call of a threatening nature to Pleasant Prairie Elementary.

The police department put a significant amount of resources into this case including placing officers at the school for certain periods on both days.

"This particular call was vague with respect to the threats that were made or how they would be carried out.” Wagner said. "Even in a case like this where the threat lacks much credibility, we have to take it seriously and people, especially children need to understand that threats made against anyone and certainly a school, is a serious matter and that there will be a price to pay", he said.

The girl has been referred to Kenosha County Juvenile Authorities on charges of unlawful use of telephone. She was released to her parents.
