12/05/2005 | Cops/Firefighters Reward Kids with Holiday Shopping Trip
(Pleasant Prairie, WI) On Saturday December 10, 2005 Pleasant Prairie Police Officers and Firefighters will be taking children from area elementary schools on a holiday shopping trip to Wal-Mart. In all, 24 children were selected by their teachers to participate in Pleasant Prairie’s first “Shop with a Cop/Firefighter” event.

The event is being funded by a police and firefighter fundraiser, donations from area businesses, and from local residents who heard about the program. In all, almost $5000.00 has been collected. “The program is off to a tremendous start”, according to Officer Peter Jung who has been coordinating the program in Pleasant Prairie.

Shop with a Cop/Firefighter will be used as a way to provide needy and deserving children with a December holiday shopping trip to buy gifts for themselves or family members. Each child will be accompanied by a uniformed police officer or firefighter to help them while they shop.

This will be a unique experience for the children, and it is sure to foster a positive relationship between the children and public safety officials. This event should provide an interesting story and images for media personnel and the press is encouraged to attend.

The event will take place at the Kenosha Wal-Mart 4404 52nd Street on Saturday December 10, 2005 at 8:00am. Questions about the event can be directed to Officer Jung at 262-694-7353 or pjung@plprairiewi.com.
