Prairie Springs Park & Lake Andrea

Veterans Memorial

Initial construction on a new Veterans Memorial began in June 0f 2007 inside Prairie Springs Park, construction of this project concluded on Sunday, August 5, 2007 with a dedication ceremony held at the site. The memorial was constructed as a tribute to the men and women who have served our country in all branches of the armed forces. The site for the memorial is directly to the east of the ball field pavilion on the south side of Prairie Springs Park (adjacent to Hwy 165).

The design of the memorial offers visitors a seating area surrounding a landscaped display of plaques representing each branch of the service, guarded over by a bank of flags. Benches and bricks will be engraved with individual or family names in tribute to those who served in our country’s armed forces. “The memorial, when it’s complete, will be an area that people can visit to remember those who served to preserve our freedom,” commented John Steinbrink Jr., Streets and Parks Superintendent who is overseeing the project.

Memorial bricks and benches will be made available to those wishing to honor our service men and women. Bricks and benches may be engraved with the names of individuals, families or businesses. The names on the bricks need not only be those of service men and women, but anyone who wishes to honor and thank our service people for their years of service and sacrifice. Order forms for both the bricks and benches are available below in PDF format.
*Please Note that in order to be included in the dedication ceremony on Sunday, November 11, 2007 memorial bricks and benches must be ordered by October 5, 2007.
