Door-to-Door Peddlers/Solicitors License

Chapter 254 – It shall be unlawful for any transient merchant to engage is sales or solicitations within the Village without being registered for that purpose as provided herein.

A transient merchant/solicitor must obtain a license from the Village Clerk before they go door to door.

Charitable Organizations must provide proof to the Village Clerk the organization is registered under section 440.41 Wis.. Stats., before going door-to-door but are exempt from obtaining a license under this Section. Charitable Organization includes any benevolent, philanthropic, patriotic or eleemosynary person, partnership, association or corporation.

If an applicant is not a resident of Kenosha County or whose place of business is located outside of the State of Wisconsin, a surety bond in the amount of $500.00 must be provided with the application.

A Peddler or Solicitor must have a license on their person. They are also prohibited from calling at any dwelling or other place between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. except by appointment. Call the Police Department if an unlicensed person is peddling or soliciting at your residence.
